Abstract

This study examined how control deprivation shapes moral judgments of suicide. Participants (N = 333) completed high- or low-control tasks before reading a suicide vignette. Low-control increased perceived rationality and moral justification, with rationality mediating this effect. Findings understood through control motivation theory and offer implications for reducing suicide stigma.
