The Illusion of Falseness: Effects of Language Switching on Truth Judgments of Contradictions

Abstract
This study examined whether switching between native (L1) and non-native (L2) languages affects truth judgments of contradictions. We replicated the IOF, which was stronger when moving from L1 to L2 (vs. L2 to L1), suggesting that transitioning to a second language disrupts processing fluency and makes information feel less true.
