Abstract
This study examined how grammatical and stereotypical gender drive subject-verb agreement using ERPs. Participants read sentences containing masculine or feminine nouns followed by gendered verbs. Grammatical gender violations elicited N400 or P600 effects depending on verb gender, whereas stereotypical gender effects varied with verb gender and participant’s masculinity or femininity.
