Abstract
We investigated how autobiographical memory cues influence interest and learning from text. Students (N = 135, Mage = 16.4, 81% female) completed an experimental reading task. Mind-wandering negatively predicted learning, and high neuroticism reduced interest development, indicating these traits moderate the effectiveness of interest-enhancing instructional design cues.
