Abstract

In two studies we found robust links between confidante support, academic identity congruence (a sense that the student role expresses "real me"), and academic flourishing. In study three, incoming first-year student aspirations and confidante support independently predicted subsequent academic identity congruence. We propose a process model of student identity transition.
