Value-based and consequence-based interventions effectively promoted research integrity among PhD-level researchers when motives remained psychologically salient. Effects appeared immediately following manipulation but did not generalize to subsequent scenarios without explicit prompting, highlighting the critical importance of sustained engagement with values or consequences throughout research.
