Abstract

This study investigated how discrete negative emotions influence temporal memory for neutral backgrounds. Experiment 1 showed anger impaired memory, supporting the central attention hypothesis. Conversely, Experiment 2 found a marginal benefit for anger. This discrepancy implies that rapid emotional switching generates interference, diminishing distinct attentional effects observed in isolated contexts.
