Adjusting Speech to Robot Addressees: Roles of Framing and Feedback

We examine whether explicit verbal cues of audience comprehension before and during the interaction can influence speakers’ speech adaptation for a robot using a word-guessing task. Findings will advance audience design theory and research, and inform robot design for better comprehension signaling in human-robot interactions.
