Trait Reappraisal As a Protective Factor for Adolescents’ Mood during Ongoing Conflict

Abstract
This study examined how trait and spontaneous cognitive-reappraisal relate to adolescents’ mood during the Israel-Hamas-War. Among 235 adolescents, trait reappraisal predicted a greater negative-mood reduction and a higher spontaneous use of reappraisal during the recall of unpleasant event. These findings underscore the protective role of reappraisal during times of enduring-stress.
