Abstract
This study compared music use and music-based mood regulation in clinical (mental health, substance use, and oncology) and non-clinical groups (N=686). Clinical groups showed higher ruminative and avoidant music use, particularly among oncology patients. No differences were observed between groups in healthy music use or in most regulatory purposes.
