Culture and Spatial Cognition: Local and Global Reference Frames In Action

This study examined how culture influences spatial coding in action. Ninety Chinese and German participants completed a spatial compatibility task with easy or difficult discrimination. Chinese participants showed stronger body‑centered (local) effects, while global effects were unchanged, revealing both universal and culture‑specific patterns in spatial cognition.
