Abstract

We investigated whether loneliness and social anxiety impact accuracy in meta-evaluations of interest (i.e., evaluating a partner’s interest in oneself) during conversations between strangers. Using video ratings from 52 pairs, we found that higher loneliness was associated with reduced accuracy in distinguishing an interested partner from a disinterested one.
