Abstract

Mouse-tracking, with a dynamic start procedure, during choices between reappraisal and distraction revealed that trajectories were smooth rather than abrupt. Results indicate decisions align with dynamical-process models rather than default-interventionist models. Findings suggest strategy selection reflects continuous evaluation of contextual factors, costs, and benefits.
