The Discrepancy between Parents’ and Children's Reports of Externalizing and Internalizing Symptoms Depends on the Perceived Frequency of Symptoms

Abstract
Do parents report more externalizing symptoms and children report more internalizing symptoms? This is only true when the frequency of the symptoms is considered. In a sample of 132 children undergoing psychotherapy, we found the expected difference only when the symptoms occurred frequently.
