Abstract

We used Batson et al's (2015) model of human altruism to predict environmental concern.  Results partially confirmed predictions:  perceptions that the natural environment is threatened predicted environmental concern via the mediators empathy for the environment and altruistic motivation.  Contrary to predictions, valuing the environment did not moderate this relation.
