Abstract
This ecological momentary assessment study examined, among 203 participants, how repeatedly fixating on potential future threats and past negative outcomes may modulate how people present themselves and interact with others in interpersonal situations. Results corroborated the first direct evidence of interpersonal behavior being maintained by principles of contrast avoidance.
