Stereotype Violations Reduce Expert Influence: Bias In Evaluating Psychological Testimony

This research proposal expands on hairstyle bias in Black women by examining how expert witnesses’ apparent race and hairstyle shape perceived credibility. Using a 2×2 design to assess main, interaction, and exploratory moderating effects, participants view standardized psychological testimony from controlled avatars and rate credibility and decision influence.
