Abstract
This longitudinal study identifies self-regulation as a mechanism connecting family conflict to adolescent internalizing and externalizing problems. Furthermore, we demonstrate that the effects of self-regulation (and indirect effects of family conflict) on adolescent outcomes are exacerbated among youth exposed to high levels of negative life events.
