Abstract
Anger-inducing film clips often elicit several negative emotions, yet how these non-target responses arise is still unclear. Across experiments, we examined whether control-based emotional states shape reactions to an anger clip. Anger remained the predominant response, with only slight differences in secondary emotions based on prior emotional states.
