Abstract
The purpose of this study was to determine whether readers are sensitive to anomalous words when speed reading, topic scanning, or reading for comprehension. Eye movement data indicated that speed readers are more sensitive to lexical anomalies than topic scanners, but comprehension readers are most sensitive to lexical anomalies.
