Redistribution of Control In Flexible Work Reshapes Psychological and Material Needs and Employee Well-Being

Abstract
Flexible work redistributes control over material, social, and agentic conditions, reshaping environments that support or frustrate basic human needs. Building on Self-Determination Theory, this conceptual model proposes four pathways, autonomy, relatedness, competence, and material sufficiency, through which flexible work shapes well-being and outlines a longitudinal empirical study to test them.
