Abstract
Sustainable community well-being requires more than short-term individual happiness. Using longitudinal data from 142 Japanese communities, this study shows that subjective well-being supported by community trust and prosociality predicts higher well-being four years later. These findings highlight that cooperative social relationships play a critical role in sustaining community well-being.
