Abstract
528 Black and White men and women from the U.S. reported the importance placed on romantic relationships. Survey findings revealed Blacks place less importance on romantic relationships than Whites. Socialization of relationship costs indirectly influenced this difference, implying cultural influences shape romantic relationship pursuit in ways that challenge understood beliefs.
