The Daily Grind: Chronic Interpersonal Stress, Not Acute Trauma, Bridges the Gap to Personality Pathology

We examined stress-vulnerability profiles in 3,924 students (M age = 21.1) from the WMH-ICS Initiative using network analysis. Results revealed a "Social-Dissociative" profile: chronic interpersonal conflict, rather than material stress, bridged to pathology via Hopelessness and Dissociation. Clinically, this suggests targeting conflict reduction and dissociative defenses to interrupt personality dysfunction.
