How Are Emojis Processed? a Cross-Linguistic Eye-Tracking Study of Parafoveal Access and Semantic Integration

It remains unclear whether emoji processing follows a universal pattern or is shaped by language and language-specific reading experience. To address these questions, the proposed study will employ an eye-tracking paradigm to investigate the semantic processing of emojis during natural sentence reading and the influence of different language backgrounds.
