Academic Burnout Profiles and Their Impact on Students’ Self-Efficacy: A Latent Profile and Moderated Mediation Analysis

Abstract
Using data from 748 university students, we identified four academic burnout profiles via Latent Profile Analysis. Emotional exhaustion reduced self-efficacy primarily by increasing cynicism. Moderated mediation showed that this pathway differed across profiles. Findings highlight burnout heterogeneity and support tailored interventions targeting exhaustion-driven mechanisms.
