Abstract

We reviewed 721 studies on daily stress measurements and found substantial heterogeneity in concepts measured (events, pain, feeling stressed), wording (~70 formulations), and pronounced conceptual ambiguity and overlap. We present the StressMess database as a tool to foster integration and improve knowledge synthesis, and provide recommendations to enhance stress measurement.
