Ambiguity Comprehension In Mandarin: The Role of Prosody and Gesture

This study examines how prosody and gesture support the comprehension of ambiguous Mandarin sentences. Using audio, audiovisual, and text-only stimuli, we measure accuracy and reaction times to determine how multimodal cues, gesture types, and interpretation frequency influence disambiguation. Findings will demonstrate listeners’ dynamic weighting of multimodal information in ambiguity comprehension.
