Abstract

Creative thinking was compared across child-centered (CC) and teacher-centered (TC) contexts. CC schooling predicted higher divergent creativity (Study 1). In convergent problem-solving (Study 2), context-dependent developmental patterns showed steeper gains in CC than TC settings. Overall, CC environments appear to strengthen key components of children’s creative cognition.
