Abstract

Students who perceive greater autonomy have increased self-efficacy and interest in learning. Through self-report surveys, autonomy predict self-efficacy but not interest level among college students in two course sections. Providing students with choice is important for building confidence to succeed, while more is needed to build interest in the course.
