Abstract

Higher resting HRV predicted better emotion recognition accuracy on the Geneva Emotion Recognition Test in younger (r (43)=.41, p=.006) but not older (r (41)=.18, ns) adults. These findings suggest age-related changes in vagal function may influence social-cognitive processes like emotion perception.
