Abstract
We tested whether low-SES students show more interdependent self-construals and stronger social-cognitive abilities, combining self-report and behavioral assessments. In a sample of 1.127 French students, low-SES students consistently reported more independent self-construals and did not consistently demonstrate superior social-cognitive performance. These results help explain previous inconsistencies in SES-related cognitive differences.
