Abstract

We examined whether 4-6-year-old children (N=181, Mage=4.99) retrieve object-location bindings equivalently using feature-based versus location-based cues across three experiments. Feature-based retrieval showed advantages in standard (d=-0.825) and temporally-equated (d=-0.518) conditions, but this diminished when perceptual demands were controlled (d=-0.246, p=.085), suggesting performance differences reflect task demands rather than capacity differences.
