The Effect of Second Language Acquisition on Event Perception and Narrative Skills In Preschool and School-Aged Children

Abstract
Present study compared event perception and narratives of monolinguals (N=79) and bilinguals (N=80) using eye-tracking across 5-year-olds (N=51), 7-year-olds (N=55), and 9-year-olds (N=53). Monolinguals and bilinguals showed similarities in event perception and narratives. However, bilinguals showed different perceptual patterns in their native and second-languages.
