Abstract
This study examined independent and interaction effects of self-efficacy and epistemic beliefs on vocabulary learning strategies among Thai EFL learners (N=286). Authority beliefs significantly moderated the relationship between personal justification beliefs and cognitive strategies. Personal justification promoted strategies only among students with low authority beliefs, potentially reflecting Thai cultural contexts.
