Language As a Multidimensional Risk Factor: Structural, Pragmatic, and Social Language’s Impact on Mental Health

Abstract
We examined associations between language functioning and mental health outcomes in an unselected sample comprising 89 adults using validated measures of language and mental health. Poorer syntactic, pragmatic, and social skills were associated with higher anxiety and depression after controlling for demographic and neurodevelopmental factors.
