Abstract

We conducted an experiment on the effect of a brief representation intervention on depression stigma in the Hispanic/Latinx community (N = 285). We found that the counterstereotypical representation reduced stigma toward depression and stigma toward depression treatment, suggesting the value of integrating more counterstereotypical representations of depression in the media.
