Coping Under Stress: Meaning-Making Buffers Against Acculturative and Perceived Discrimination Stress

We examined links between acculturative stress, perceived discrimination, and approach vs avoidant coping among 340 East Asian international young adults in the US using survey data. Acculturative and discrimination stress were associated with greater avoidant coping but not approach coping. Meaning-making beliefs buffered against stress under low levels of discrimination.
