Abstract

We tested how prior beliefs, presentation format, and time constraints shape Bayesian judgments in 103 students. Accuracy was higher for believable and low-posterior problems. Icons helped only when evidence was believable. Unlimited time improved accuracy. Recommendations followed posterior probabilities when data were believable but reflected prior beliefs under time pressure.
