Sequential Mediation Pathway from Socially Prescribed Perfectionism to Emotional Eating: The Mediating Roles of Achievement Self-Discrepancy and Depression

This study tested a sequential mediation pathway linking socially prescribed perfectionism to emotional eating via achievement self-discrepancy and change in depression. In a three-wave survey of 350 young adults, structural equation modeling supported this indirect pathway, revealing the detailed sequential psychological mechanism through which perfectionism promotes emotional eating.
