Abstract

This study examined whether specific emotion regulation difficulties predicted sexual aggression in adults. Impulse control problems, nonacceptance of emotional distress, and difficulties engaging in goal-directed behavior were the strongest predictors.  These findings show that distinct emotion regulation deficits, beyond demographics, meaningfully increase risk for sexually coercive behavior.
