Abstract

We analyzed the relationship between Hofstede's Cultural Values with the Sarcasm Self-Report Scale and the Sarcasm Why Scale in 1,231 adult participants from five countries. Sex and age are significant predictors of sarcasm use. Cultural values add a more nuanced dimension to how and why individuals use sarcasm to communicate.
