Abstract
Interpersonal traumas confer risk for more severe posttraumatic stress. A mediation analysis revealed that trauma-related betrayal explains a significant proportion of this risk (≈57% mediated). Our findings indicate that trauma-related betrayal may be an important risk factor and may help identify individuals at risk for more severe posttraumatic stress symptoms.
