The Psychology of Social Reality: A Multi-Study Assessment of Mind-Dependence—Its Stability, Validity, and Predictors

Across seven studies (N = 3,072), we developed and validated a measure of perceived mind-dependence—the extent to which social facts rely on human beliefs thoughts wishes and desires. Findings show the construct is reliable, domain-specific, predicts real-world judgments, and varies systematically across individuals and features of social reality.
