Support In the Shift: The Role of Social Support In Navigating Goal Disengagement Conflict

Across four pre-registered studies, we show that close others play a key role in perseverance-disengagement conflict. Support type predicted differences in uncertainty, affect, and intentions to persevere or disengage, revealing interpersonal influences on action-crisis resolution and informing how people can better support others facing difficult goal decisions.
