Abstract
Interpersonal emotion regulation (IER) is understudied but may contribute to suicide-related risk. Among diverse adults (N = 193), partners’ invalidation and avoidance, measured by a novel IER questionnaire, was cross-sectionally associated with suicide ideation, suicide attempts, and non-suicidal self-injury. Avoidance may be more salient for suicide behaviors vs. ideation only.
