Abstract

We conducted an experimental study exploring the effect of myside bias and analytical reasoning on fake news identification wherein 128 participants rated news excerpts- both congruent and incongruent with their gender beliefs- and responded to the verbal CRT. Participants performed poorly on incongruent items irrespective of analytical thinking skills level.
