Abstract
Autonomously pursuing creative ideas without managerial support exerts different effects on evaluations of women and men’s creativity. Across five studies, supervisors evaluate men as more creative but women as less warm and less creative when they autonomously pursue ideas, especially in women-employee/women-supervisor dyads. An intervention mitigating this penalty is investigated.
