Abstract

We developed and validated a brief, 5-item AI‑Chatbot Emotional Dependence scale that isolates emotional dependency on chatbots, distinct from task use or time spent. In 5,855 participants with EFA/CFA splits, the scale demonstrated strong reliability, a single-factor structure, and invariance across sex and school stage, supporting screening and research.
