Beyond a Monoracial Framework: Multiracial Identity and Workplace Experiences

Multiracial employees navigate identity in ways monoracial DEI frameworks overlook. Drawing on multiracial identity theory, interviews with 18 multiracial professionals reveal identity invalidation, conditional belonging, and misalignment with monoracial DEI initiatives. Findings underscore the need for organizational practices that recognize identity complexity and better support multiracial employees’ inclusion and well-being.
